Abstract
Alterations in the state of consciousness constitute one of the most frequent neurological emergencies in emergency services. These alterations may be present in the level and / or content of the brain, secondary to neurological causes such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, central nervous system infections and brain tumors; And systemic causes, such as endocrine, metabolic and toxic disorders. It is important to recognize and differentiate correctly the different levels of altered state of consciousness, for this the health professional can use scales such as Glasgow, Jouvet and FOUR that will allow him to guide patient follow-up.
